Small business accountants in Swindon

Accounting services for small businesses

We are a Swindon-based firm of accountants who specialise in acting for small businesses.  We work with sole-traders, partnerships, limited liability partnerships (LLPs) and limited companies, both local to us in Wiltshire – and further afield.

Our accounting services for small businesses include handling everything from the preparation of accounts and annual tax returns to in-depth tax advice.  Unlike larger businesses which often have their own in-house finance and admin staff, and perhaps a financial director, small businesses often benefit from the support of experts like us.  Our focus is on ensuring you stay compliant with HMRC’s many rules; minimising your tax bills; helping you to have a grip on your finances (using appropriate bookkeeping systems and reporting); assisting you to run (and grow) your business, and; helping you to deal with the myriad of problems that owner-managers and the self-employed can face each day.

Our monthly service calculates and lets you know which taxes you owe, and when and how to pay them – plus a recommendation on how much to hold in a ‘Tax Fund’.

Small Businesses and Sole Traders

Because we are accountants with a lot of experience in acting for many types of small businesses, self-employed people and freelance contractors, we are very familiar with the needs and problems our clients face when it comes to managing their finances and keeping good bookkeeping records.

A key focus for us as accountants is making sure that our clients have access to financial technology that will help them manage their businesses more efficiently and free up their time.  This is driven partly by our belief in the ability of cloud accounting software (like Xero and QuickBooks) to make your business more efficient and profitable, and partly by external pressure from the Government’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) programme (for more information see our video).  From MTD for VAT to MTD for income tax self-assessment, it is vital that you stay compliant with new digital reporting regulations – and we make that happen.

Setting up in Business

A new business needs energy and dedication, and time for considering ideas and plans – including ensuring that its structure is sustainable and tax efficient.

Annual Accounts

We prepare annual accounts for our clients for their own benefit and for submission to HMRC and, where necessary, for Companies House.

Income Tax Returns

Ensuring that you are on time with your Income Tax Return is our mission! We can discuss your requirements with you by phone or you can visit us.

Value added tax is generally straightforward – but can be one of the most complex taxes imposed on business – meaning some businesses overpay or underpay VAT without realising it.

Making sure your bookkeeping records are up to date is crucial to understanding your financial position. Let us help you to keep on top of it.

Administering your payroll can divert energy from your core business – a task made more difficult by the growing complexity of taxation and employment legislation.

Management Accounts

We can prepare management accounts for you – or, if you are using bookkeeping software, train you to prepare them for yourself.

Tax Advice

We will ensure that you meet your Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment deadlines and file your returns correctly, and avoid potential penalties.

Additional Services

We offer services such as providing references, Company Secretarial work and other ad hoc work that businesses need help with.
